They really deserve to be praise. Let's drop the topics of the Melamine, Earthquake, Corruption and you know what. But to me, simple technology they used during the reign of dynasties really makes us think how do they do it? Simple law of physics that they did not need to study, simple knowledge they acquired during farming which is so ingenious.

Came across a lot of technologies which is still at work till today really makes me feel proud to be a Chinese.

Let me state 2 recent examples:
Richter Scale
A mystery that till now that we do not know how it disappeared in thin air, The Richter Scale. Many were misled that the one displayed in the China's Museum is the real thing. But it was a successful duplicate of the scale in 1950. I won't elaborate on how it work, but Zhang Heng really did well in making a huge breakthrough which I think till now you'll never realized that given the present technologies, nothing came close to it.

Salt water retrieval method
This method sounds simple? But to dig 3000ft during the days of Ming Dynasty? It was really tough. They inserted a bamboo-like canister in the hole dug which is only a fist big to retrieve the saltwater. With a small stick used to push into the gap below the bamboo, saltwater retrieved flows out. What was pushed in the bamboo to create the flow? A cooked cow skin. Incredible. I ain't gonna say more.

Well, in conclusion, I am just astonished about how our ancestors are able to make such a difference. (but not proud at what the future of theirs are...)
